MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – JANUARY 19, 2021
Bacone College hosted a visit from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution President General Denise VanBuren and local and state DAR leaders and members on Tuesday.
The delegation toured the Bacone College campus, where they were able to see many of the improvements completed thanks to generous donations from DAR chapters, the NSDAR, and members.
Bacone College Vice President of Development Gerald Cournoyer, President Dr. Ferlin Clark, and Director of the Bacone School of Indian Art Michael Elizondo Jr. also presented VanBuren with a plaque commemorating the school’s intention of naming the main art gallery in historical McCombs Hall the “VanBuren Sunshine Gallery.”
VanBuren presented Bacone College with a generous donation of $25,000 for lighting in the art gallery, needed items for the students’ free pantry, and a new roof for the Center for American Indians’ Kiva.
